About This Role

Raffles American School (RAS) is seeking a passionate and engaging Chinese Language Teacher (K3-G5) to join our Chinese team for the 2026 academic year.

Position Overview

Raffles American School Bangkok is looking for a dedicated and motivating Chinese Language Teacher to deliver Mandarin instruction to children in the Early Years and Elementary School. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for language acquisition, enabling young learners to develop essential Mandarin skills through engaging and age-appropriate lessons.

The teacher will deliver outstanding language instruction with a focus on enhancing students’ listening and speaking proficiency while gradually introducing reading and writing in developmentally appropriate ways. Utilizing songs, stories, playful learning techniques, and interactive activities, the teacher will ignite students’ interest and appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with fellow educators to support the continuous improvement of the school’s Chinese language program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement captivating Mandarin Chinese lessons that align with the school’s curriculum for Early Years and Elementary School students.
  • Establish foundational Mandarin skills in students, primarily emphasizing listening and speaking, while also introducing early literacy skills in Chinese.
  • Utilize age-appropriate instructional techniques, including songs, stories, games, and play-based activities to support language learning.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students with varied language backgrounds and levels of Mandarin exposure.
  • Integrate Chinese culture, traditions, and celebrations into classroom learning experiences.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using developmentally appropriate evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student learning and communicate progress with parents and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and peers to promote cross-curricular learning and language development.
  • Actively engage in the wider school community, participating in cultural and language-related events.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language Education, Early Childhood Education, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in a classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Mandarin to young learners or non-native speakers.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills tailored for Early Years and Elementary students.
  • A teaching certification or recognized teaching qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in an international or multicultural school setting is beneficial.
  • Experience with Early Years or Primary students is preferred.
  • Familiarity with international language frameworks (e.g., YCT, HSK, IB, AP Chinese) is a plus.
  • Experience in integrating educational technology into language teaching is advantageous.

We offer competitive salaries for fully qualified and licensed teachers in full-time positions. Please be aware that there is no additional housing allowance. Candidates will receive reimbursement for their flight to Thailand and round-trip airfare to their home country at the conclusion of each contract (for international applicants only). Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
