We are in search of a skilled elementary school teacher to lead visual arts education. Art is instructed by a specialist from Kindergarten to Grade 7, with this role concentrating on students in Grades 1-5. You will join a collaborative teaching team dedicated to fostering the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. This position will comprise 0.75FTE in Art instruction and 0.25FTE in Primary Teacher Support.

Responsibilities:

● Cultivate a warm and welcoming environment conducive to learning for young students
● Teach Art in the Junior School, focusing on Grades 1–5, while creating engaging and lively classes (0.75 teaching responsibilities)
● Provide small group instruction in primary classrooms that enhances early literacy and/or numeracy skills, working in conjunction with Learning Resources and classroom teachers (0.25 teaching responsibilities)
● Ensure continuity in learning competencies both vertically and horizontally across the Junior School in collaboration with colleagues
● Collaborate with all Junior School teachers to meet student needs within Art and Primary Classrooms
● Implement and integrate educational technology to facilitate learning
● Deliver the BC Curriculum for Art Education
● Actively participate in the Junior School co-curricular and Athletics program
● Engage fully in the CHS Teacher Professional Growth Plan

Requirements/Qualifications:

● B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification
● Relevant university credentials, ideally at the graduate level (e.g., Bachelor of Education plus Bachelor of Visual Arts or equivalent)
● Understanding of how to address diverse learning styles at the elementary level
● Collaborative, energetic, and passionate about teaching
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Proven ability to be innovative, adaptable, and highly organized with a keen attention to detail
● Enthusiasm, commitment, and readiness to engage in the co-curricular program and the varied life of the school community

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
