Business Studies and Accounting Teacher
About This Role
The Role
The primary responsibility is to implement the business studies and accounting curriculum as directed by the Principal:
- aiding students in their preparations for higher education
- fostering discipline and cultivating a respectful classroom atmosphere
- monitoring student progress and assessing assignments
- preparing reports and organizing parent meetings when necessary
- accurately keeping the class attendance records
- supervising recess and lunch periods as assigned
To consistently prioritize the well-being of students:
- acting as a pastoral tutor, guiding students in their academic journeys and daily lives, while serving as a connection between a designated group of students and their families
- participating in one of the School’s Houses and taking part in organized events
- ensuring adherence to the school’s safeguarding policies and protocols
- communicating with the Senior Leadership Team and parents as required
- responsibly fulfilling evening boarding supervision responsibilities in line with the School’s policies (typically once every two to three weeks)
To actively participate in the School’s extracurricular programs, which may encompass:
- sports
- arts
- academic enhancement
- outdoor pursuits
To undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the School’s Leadership Team, including:
- collaborating on marketing and admissions initiatives
- attending staff meetings and engaging in professional development opportunities
- participating in school-wide events such as Foundation Day
- serving on various school committees
Safeguarding, Student Welfare, and Pastoral Care
All educators:
- must have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and student welfare policies and practices
- must adhere to established systems
- must act as positive role models for students at all times
- must be willing to engage in pastoral and tutorial duties as assigned by school leadership
School Environment and Operations
All teachers share the responsibility for the effective functioning of the School and for upholding the ethos, routines, and teaching methods aligned with King’s School’s Aims and Ethos, as directed by the leadership team.
In doing so, they should:
- ensure compliance with the School’s rules and policies
- attend School meetings and public events
- support extracurricular initiatives and activities
- be ready to cover for absent colleagues when necessary and reasonable
