About This Role

Secondary Biology Teacher (m/f/d)

St. George’s the British International School, Munich, Germany

As our school continues to expand, St. George's School is in search of a qualified Biology teacher to join our secondary education team, starting in August 2026.

The School

Established in September 2013, St. George’s School Munich has quickly evolved into a vibrant community comprised of over 800 students and 100 educators. The school fosters a nurturing environment that blends a comprehensive curriculum with a family-oriented approach, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both staff and students.

In September 2017, we transitioned to a modern, purpose-built campus situated in the city, which offers exceptional educational facilities for learners across all age groups and subjects.

Our curriculum aligns with the National Curriculum, and we provide IGCSE qualifications to our Upper School students. Sixth Form learners prepare for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

As one of three schools within a network across Germany, St. George’s presents the successful candidate with a wealth of opportunities for professional development and advancement throughout the school group.

The Location

Our new campus is based in the Schwabing-Freimann district, located to the north of the city center. The site is conveniently accessible via the U6 metro line and the A9 motorway.

Munich, the capital of Bavaria and Germany's third-largest city, is a lively cultural hub with a diverse international community. Nestled at the northern edge of the Alps, the city offers a high quality of life along with countless opportunities for travel and outdoor activities.

Munich Airport is situated 30km from the school, featuring numerous daily flights to the UK, while high-speed rail services connect Munich to various European destinations.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic educator with a proven ability to help students reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of experience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching that will motivate our pupils.

The secondary department caters to students aged 11-18 and follows the curricula for Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and IB Diploma. Familiarity with the British education system is essential, and while experience in IB teaching is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Science is included in the core curriculum for all age groups. In Middle School, students engage in a General Science course that integrates Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. At age 16, students sit for Cambridge IGCSE examinations, with most pursuing the double combined award. In the Sixth Form, students can choose to study one or two science subjects as part of the IB diploma, with Biology available at both Standard and Higher Level, making it a popular choice.

As the school continues to grow and evolve, candidates must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to support their colleagues. A strong commitment to contributing to the vibrant pastoral and extracurricular life of the school will also be beneficial.
