About This Role

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate, highly-driven, and seasoned Art Teacher to join the Art and Design & Technology Department as it embarks on its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate must possess the capability to teach Art up to at least the IGCSE level, with a potential opportunity to teach A-Level.

Key Duties

Teaching and Learning


Prepare and plan engaging lessons;


Educate assigned students according to their individual educational needs, maintaining high expectations for all;


Assign and evaluate students' work, including examinations;


Assess, document, and communicate the development, progress, and achievements of students;


Provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their progress;


Modify lesson plans based on student feedback and their performance.

Reporting and Assessing


Submit regular reports and grades for students in accordance with the School’s schedule;


Identify and address students of concern;


Participate in parent-teacher meetings and deliver oral reports to parents;


Provide references for students upon request;


Evaluate and report on prospective students as needed;


Prepare examinations and assessments for students, including standardized tests.

Other Duties


Take attendance promptly and notify a senior staff member if there are concerns regarding a student's whereabouts;


Ensure the classroom is a dynamic and encouraging space for learning;


Support the wellbeing of individual students and all assigned classes;


Foster positive behavior among students;


Act on any concerns related to students’ wellbeing, informing the safeguarding team as necessary, and maintain appropriate records;


Engage and communicate with students’ parents;


Accompany students on school excursions and trips;


Supervise students and their activities as needed;


Lead two extracurricular activities each week;


Contribute to marketing the School to prospective students and their families;


Cover lessons for absent colleagues as required.

Secondary School


Attend and actively participate in department and staff meetings as necessary;


Contribute to the development plans and schemes of work for the department, and carry out tasks assigned by the Head of Department;


Serve as a mentor or Sixth Form Tutor for a group of students, offering guidance on educational, career, and social issues, while also leading PSHE lessons.

Professional Development


Continue to enhance professional skills through CPD, further reading, etc.;


Engage in the School’s focused development program and performance management each year;


Participate in CPD initiatives organized by the School, such as observation fortnight.

The School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, expecting all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment. The successful candidate will undergo security vetting.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
