About This Role

Aldar Academies is currently in search of an exceptional Teacher - English (EAL) for Yas American Academy, with a start date in August 2026.

Established in September 2016, Yas American Academy delivers top-notch education to the Emirate. Our curriculum is based on the Massachusetts Common Core, adapted to resonate with our students, alongside the local curriculum, which includes Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies. The school boasts fantastic facilities, featuring a spacious astro-turf field, two swimming pools, a well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium, and outdoor play areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your role will involve planning and delivering exceptional teaching and learning in accordance with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy by:

• Establishing an environment that promotes outstanding learning experiences;

• Defining clear teaching and learning goals;

• Setting attainable targets that build upon students' prior achievements;

• Identifying students with SEN (POD), EAL, and G&T needs, ensuring their requirements are met through differentiated instruction;

• Structuring lessons and learning activities effectively to maintain engagement, pace, and challenge;

• Utilizing assessment for learning effectively;

• Leveraging performance data and key indicators for informed planning, enabling the delivery of differentiated lessons;

• Integrating ICT to enhance student learning and progress;

• Upholding discipline according to the school's 'Behaviour for Learning Policy' while promoting punctuality, positive behavior, and high standards of work and homework;

• Evaluating the achievement of learning objectives to refine specific aspects of teaching and learning;

• Regularly marking student work and establishing progress targets in line with the school's Marking Policy;

• Systematically assessing and recording student progress, using performance data to guide planning and support student growth;

• Conducting assessments as required by examination bodies and following departmental and school protocols;

• Crafting and presenting informative reports to parents;

• Participating in and supporting parent/student events;

• Contributing to subject development by creating, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and work schemes;

• Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as necessary;

• Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, along with a PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience as an English teacher within the American curriculum framework.
