About This Role

O Castro British International School, located in Vigo, Spain, is a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving educational institution serving over 700 students from Primary to Secondary levels. We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our team at O Castro British School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Oversee and manage all facets of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and applicable local authority protocols.


Serve as the primary contact for all safeguarding issues, offering support, guidance, and advice to staff, students, and parents.


Receive, document, and handle safeguarding disclosures and referrals, ensuring prompt action, secure record-keeping, and appropriate escalation to external agencies when necessary.


Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the school's safeguarding policies, procedures, and risk assessments.


Collaborate closely with senior leadership, pastoral staff, external services, and multi-agency partners to adopt a comprehensive approach to pupil welfare and protection.


Analyze trends and patterns in safeguarding concerns, providing reports and recommendations to school leadership and governing bodies.


Foster a safe, inclusive, and proactive school environment where every child feels supported, heard, and safeguarded.

REQUIREMENTS:


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.


C1/C2 level proficiency in English.


A degree in Education, English, or a related discipline.


Completion of specialized DSL/Level 3 safeguarding training is essential.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
