About This Role

Duties:

A. Knowledge and Understanding:

• Possess an in-depth comprehension of the subject matter.

• Maintain a solid grasp and understanding of the subject.

• Confidently address subject-related inquiries from students and be aware of common misconceptions and errors in their specialized subject(s).

• Be familiar with the school curriculum and assessment frameworks.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:

• Establish clear teaching objectives, content, and lesson structures that are appropriate for the subject and the students.

• Set high and challenging expectations for student learning and motivation. Establish clear goals for students' progress, building on their previous achievements and experiences.

• Recognize students with special educational needs as well as those who are gifted and talented, and know how to seek support to provide targeted assistance. When applicable, implement and maintain records for Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:

• Deliver effective instruction to entire classes, groups, and individuals, ensuring that teaching objectives are achieved, momentum is sustained, and teaching time is utilized efficiently.

• Employ engaging teaching methods that stimulate students’ intellectual curiosity, facilitate effective questioning and responses, and utilize resources effectively.

• Set high standards for student behavior, creating and maintaining a disciplined environment through focused teaching and positive, productive relationships.

• Encourage positive behavioral patterns, foster self-esteem, and promote independent work in students to support their education and development within an ICT context.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:

• Evaluate the extent to which learning objectives have been met and utilize this assessment to inform future instruction.

• Assess and track students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback and setting targets for their advancement.

• When applicable, be aware of the expectations placed on students concerning the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:

• Be prepared to create and present informative reports for parents.

• Recognize that learning occurs outside the school environment and offer opportunities to connect students' learning with real-world and work-related examples.

• Understand the importance of collaboration with external agencies.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:

• Acknowledge the necessity of taking charge of personal professional development and staying informed about research and advancements in pedagogy and the subjects taught.

• Be aware of their professional obligations regarding school policies, guidelines, and practices.

• Set a positive example for students in both presentation and personal conduct.

• Critically assess their own teaching practices and utilize this evaluation to enhance their effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:

• Foster effective working relationships with professional colleagues, including co-teachers, specialist educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:

• Choose and effectively utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other learning resources that support the achievement of teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree and a teaching certificate or license with strong subject knowledge.

• At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a school environment.

• Demonstrate a rigorous approach to teaching various year levels.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
