Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board dedicated to delivering educational services across the 14 communities of Nunavik. We are looking for dedicated special education teachers who are passionate about supporting primary and secondary students with varying learning challenges.
FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Assess students to identify their learning strengths and areas of difficulty.
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment results and work alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Engage with the local special education committee.
- Design and implement a differentiated instruction program to cater to the unique needs of students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources to enhance the learning experience.
- Work closely with parents, tutors, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and support for each student.
- Monitor student progress and modify educational strategies to meet their evolving needs and encourage success.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date records of students’ achievements and challenges.
- Keep abreast of current trends, techniques, and best practices in special education.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, or a related field.
- Valid “Brevet d’enseignement,” teaching permit, or provisional teaching permit in Quebec, or an equivalent from another Canadian province.
- A Master’s degree in special education is considered an asset.
The Board reserves the right to waive any or all qualification requirements at its discretion if a qualified candidate is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and agrees to complete a training plan set by the Board as a condition of employment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluency in the language of instruction (English, French, or Inuktitut).
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board, with annual compensation ranging from $46,527 to $92,027 based on experience and qualifications. Eligible candidates may also receive benefits that include:
