About This Role

We are looking for a highly qualified, passionate, and dedicated Head of German who possesses strong subject expertise and a clear vision for developing the curriculum. The ideal candidate will lead a successful department, motivate students of all levels, and enhance its academic and co-curricular achievements.

Woldingham is a vibrant and successful Catholic boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18, recognized as one of the leading independent girls' schools in the UK. It excels academically, surpassing many institutions that are more selective in their admissions processes. This success is largely attributed to Woldingham’s enriching academic and extracurricular programs, along with its supportive pastoral care and nurturing community. Located near London in a stunning rural landscape, Woldingham boasts a strong culture and community built upon a rich heritage that spans 180 years. We are dedicated to a promising future, driven by innovative ideas and cutting-edge facilities.

The Woldingham community is diverse, encompassing various backgrounds and cultures, with many languages spoken. We value and respect this diversity, and we encourage applications from anyone who meets the qualifications for the position, regardless of their background. All applicants will be evaluated solely based on their capability to fulfill the role.

To apply, please send your completed application and cover letter to hr@woldinghamschool.co.uk. This position will close at 09:00 am on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026. Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday, 29th April 2026. Candidates selected for an interview must be available for an on-site meeting.

Woldingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Professional development and staff well-being are priorities at Woldingham. Our professional staff is our most valuable asset, and we strive to support everyone in working effectively and joyfully. We place a strong emphasis on staff development, offering induction and mentoring programs for Newly Qualified Teachers and new staff, along with an annual cycle of Personal Professional Development planning for all employees.

Staff members have access to a range of excellent facilities, including a gym, squash and tennis courts, and a swimming pool. The Staffroom Committee organizes regular social events, and individual staff members have initiated yoga classes and reflexology sessions on-site.
