Position Overview:

  • Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and principles, with the ability to teach across the age and ability range from 11 to 18.
  • Familiarity with IBMYP and IBDP curricula is beneficial, but a solid foundation in equivalent curricula (e.g., A-level, Senior Secondary) is also valuable.
  • Ability to promote inquiry and critical thinking within the mathematics classroom, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop engaging and effective teaching resources and approaches that enhance student learning.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with a team of passionate educators, contributing ideas and sharing best practices to improve the overall learning experience.
  • Show empathy towards students’ learning journeys, valuing their perspectives and encouraging them to take ownership of their mathematical learning.
  • Open to professional development and training in new curricula and teaching methodologies, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excited to explore new teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student engagement and success in mathematics.
  • Convey a genuine passion for mathematics that inspires students and encourages them to value the subject highly.
  • Focus on capitalising on the talents and ambitions of students, guiding them towards excellence in their mathematical studies.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Education (PGCE/PGDE).
  • An understanding of the MYP and the key underpinnings of the curriculum frameworks is advantageous.
  • Newly qualified teachers or teaching experience within a recognised educational institute.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The iPGCE (assessment only) does not qualify for Teacher Registration status from the Hong Kong Education Bureau, which is a crucial requirement for teaching at an ESF school.
