Job Type: Full-Time initial contract of two years (renewable on a permanent basis by mutual agreement)
Position Summary:
At Thuringia International School, you will be essential in delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences that align with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, including the Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP). Your role involves collaboratively designing and implementing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and providing prompt, constructive feedback and support, empowering students to become active learners who drive positive change in the world.
The students in your care should exit the MYP and DP Programs equipped with a critical understanding of the Nature of Science, alongside the skills required to be proactive learners dedicated to making a difference, in line with our school’s Mission and Vision.
Qualifications and Previous Experience:
- Degree and teaching qualifications recognized by the State of Thüringen’s education authorities.
- Proven experience in teaching and a comprehensive understanding of the associated responsibilities.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Familiarity with the IB curriculum, particularly MYP and DP.
- A portfolio showcasing ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective lessons in accordance with the IB curriculum framework, ensuring the holistic development of students in alignment with the school’s Mission and Vision and our definition of High Quality Teaching and Learning.
- Provide clear and organized instruction that accommodates diverse learners, fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections while promoting a global perspective and the ability to make a positive impact.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through the administration and grading of assessments, assignments, and exams, adhering to IB assessment standards and reflecting the school's commitment to critical thinking, creativity, and self-efficacy.
- Offer timely, actionable, and clear feedback that guides students on how to improve.
- Cultivate a well-organized and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning and wellbeing, where students are encouraged to reflect creatively and insightfully, recognize real-world applications of their learning, and collaborate empathetically.
- Collaborate with the Student Support team to provide individualized assistance to students, including those with identified learning or language needs, ensuring their educational requirements are met.
