Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not expected to fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly regarded.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (verbal and written)
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Experience teaching in a bilingual or ESL setting
- Background in teaching within cross-cultural or northern Canadian contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Training or experience in utilizing current assessment methods to guide learning
- Proven ability to create a positive learning atmosphere using effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Ability to engage with students outside of the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student supports
- Proven ability to work as part of a collaborative school team
- Experience in contributing to and learning within a shared, community-centered environment

Assignment Specific Considerations
- Knowledge and training in UFLI is desirable

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (dependent on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Naujaat, Nunavut: $21,894
- Subsidized Housing: Available, although sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
