Rooted in the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, indigenization, inquiry, and land-based education, we strive to deliver a comprehensive, competency-driven curriculum that honors Indigenous traditions and knowledge.

Position Overview: We are in search of an enthusiastic and dedicated Educator to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing educational programs that highlight diversity, advocate for equity, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our community. This role demands a strong commitment to indigenization, a focus on competency-based curriculum development, and a creative approach to land-based education.

Responsibilities:
Course Development: Work collaboratively with educators, Elders, and community stakeholders to create and implement a competency-based curriculum that is grounded in Indigenous knowledge and values.

Cultural Inclusion: Create a learning environment that honors and integrates diverse Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring that the curriculum is representative of the local Indigenous culture.

Equity and Inclusion: Develop and execute strategies that promote equity and inclusion throughout the school community, addressing disparities and nurturing a sense of belonging for every student.

Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the school and the community, actively seeking input, collaboration, and feedback to continually enhance educational programs.

Land-Based Education: Design and incorporate land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, fostering a meaningful connection to the land and traditional practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education
- Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

The following criteria will be essential considerations in the hiring process:
- Strong comprehension of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
- Experience in applying Inquiry-based instructional methods.
- Background in curriculum implementation with an emphasis on competency-based education.
- Familiarity with competency-based assessment and evaluation.
- Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Understanding of the Inclusive Schooling practices in the Northwest Territories.
- Knowledge of land-based education principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Compensation

$95,232 - $153,748 + Northern Living Allowance: $3
