Position Overview: We are in search of an enthusiastic and dedicated Educator to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing educational programs that honor diversity, advocate for equity, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our community. This role demands a strong dedication to indigenization, a focus on competency-based learning, and a creative approach to land-based education.

Responsibilities:
Course Development: Work collaboratively with fellow educators, Elders, and community stakeholders to create and implement a competency-based curriculum that is grounded in Indigenous knowledge and values.

Cultural Inclusion: Cultivate a learning environment that honors and integrates diverse Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring that the curriculum reflects the local Indigenous culture.

Equity and Inclusion: Develop and apply strategies that enhance equity and inclusion within the school environment, addressing inequalities and nurturing a sense of belonging for every student.

Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the school and the community, actively seeking input, collaboration, and feedback to continuously enhance educational programs.

Land-Based Education: Create and incorporate land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, nurturing a profound connection to the land and traditional practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education
Eligible for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

The following criteria will be crucial considerations during the hiring process:
A solid understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
Experience in implementing inquiry-based instructional methods.
Experience with curriculum implementation, emphasizing competency-based education.
Experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation.
Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Familiarity with the Northwest Territories' Inclusive Schooling practices.
Knowledge of principles and practices related to land-based education.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

$95,232 - $153,748 + Northern Living Allowance: $3
