About This Role

We are expanding our team of British educators at our institution and are seeking to hire a passionate and skilled Biology teacher for September 2025. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing students for (i)GCSE and A level examinations. Applicants must possess a UK passport.

The British School Algiers, established as the first British international school in Algeria, opened its doors in November 2020 following a collaborative agreement between the Algerian and British governments. We are now entering our fifth year of operation.

In May 2022, we achieved BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation and relocated to a new facility later that same year to accommodate the growing demand for student placements.

Catering to students aged 4 to 18, our school follows the English National Curriculum, adapted for an international environment. Pupils undertake Cambridge International IGCSE and A level programs.

Candidates are required to hold a BEd/PGCE and DfE QTS (Department for Education Qualified Teacher Status). Additionally, they should have experience teaching iGCSE and A level Biology either in the UK or at an accredited British international school. Please note that Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will not be considered for this position.

We are dedicated to promoting outstanding teaching and learning within a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. The successful candidate will excel in collaborative work and will be eager to foster strong connections with all members of our school community.

Algiers, a vibrant and welcoming cosmopolitan city located on the Mediterranean, is rich in history and conveniently accessible from the UK and Europe. Teachers enjoy a comfortable lifestyle with a low cost of living, along with a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Our teachers can save a significant portion of their salary while also exploring the beauty of Algeria. Most personal and household items are readily available in Algiers.

You will find our school to be a friendly and fulfilling workplace, where positive relationships between staff and students are encouraged.

Our benefits package includes a relocation allowance of £500, reimbursed upon submission of receipts. The school covers the costs of entry visas and degree certificate authentication. Teachers receive a salary advance in Algerian dinars upon arrival.

The school will arrange and cover costs for work permits and residency.

We provide high-quality, furnished accommodation for staff at no rent. Teachers are responsible for utility costs such as electricity, gas, water, telephone, and internet, while school lunches are complimentary.

Private medical insurance is provided at no cost to teachers.
