In 2023, DIS was honored with the Education Excellence Award for ‘School Team of the Year’ and has also received a platinum award for ‘Best Place to Work,’ underscoring our dedication to fostering a happy and thriving community.

Serving students aged 3 to 18, DIS operates as a not-for-profit school and is part of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation. Established in 2005, the school is celebrated for delivering an exceptional inclusive and holistic education. Our recent inspection highlighted several key strengths:

• The staff take immense pride in the school, recognizing its effective leadership and safe, inclusive learning environment.

• The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment throughout the school is outstanding.

• Teachers maintain high expectations for students, consistently encouraging them to excel in lessons and activities.

• Staff appreciate their work environment and feel respected, valued, and treated fairly.

• The curriculum is meticulously designed, well sequenced, and effectively builds upon students’ prior knowledge at every stage.

• DIS emphasizes academic progress and achievement.

With a student body representing over 90 nationalities, this diversity is a cornerstone of our school community. Our exceptional facilities offer enriching opportunities across various disciplines, including sports, performing arts, academics, technology, leadership, and creative pathways, ensuring students enjoy a well-rounded educational experience both inside and outside the classroom.

While we are non-selective during admissions, our students consistently achieve impressive examination results that rival those of leading UK schools. We prioritize digital literacy to equip our students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving world, facilitating their entrance into top universities globally.

Our personalized, play-based, and continuous provision in the Early Years rigorously assesses students against the prime and specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, focusing on essential learning skills and foundational knowledge for the Primary Curriculum. In primary education, students benefit from a broad and enriching curriculum that includes various non-core subjects. Our senior students undertake IGCSE examinations in Year 11, progressing into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

Al-Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF) governs Deira International School and aims to elevate education in the UAE to new heights, preparing students for a globalized, technologically advanced future. This initiative, supported by the Al Futtaim family, aligns with the vision of the Government of Dubai and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to foster a competitive economy while maximizing social contributions through this not-for-profit endeavor.
