About This Role

Purpose of the Role:
The IB MYP Art Teacher is essential in motivating students to delve into and express their creativity through a curriculum centered on inquiry-based arts. This position aims to assist learners in honing their artistic, conceptual, and technical abilities while fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and personal expression. The teacher will craft engaging learning experiences that adhere to the IB MYP framework, support students in cultivating their unique artistic voices, and enhance a dynamic, inclusive arts program within the school community. The IB MYP Art Teacher will be responsible for teaching and overseeing the design, creation, implementation, and assessment of the IB MYP ART curriculum for the years 2026-2028, while embracing the vision, mission, and values of Lumio School.

Lumio Private School is a newly established not-for-profit international institution situated near Paphos, Cyprus, which opened its doors in September 2024. With a breathtaking 6.8-hectare campus currently being renovated, Lumio features modern classrooms, well-equipped science and IT labs, dedicated areas for arts and sports, along with a diverse range of extracurricular activities. Qualifications needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts Education, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid teaching certification or qualification for secondary education.
• Preferred experience in teaching within the IB MYP or inquiry-based learning environments.
• Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques, media, and contemporary practices.
• Ability to tailor instruction to accommodate a diverse array of learners.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
• Passionate about nurturing creativity and artistic expression in youth.

Role Responsibilities:
• Design, deliver, and assess high-quality, inquiry-based Visual Arts lessons in line with MYP Arts objectives.
• Create authentic, engaging units of inquiry that incorporate conceptual understanding and global contexts.
• Guide students through the creative process, encouraging experimentation, problem-solving, and reflective practice.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to foster student progress and artistic development.
• Establish a safe, inspiring, and visually stimulating learning environment that celebrates student achievements.
• Keep accurate documentation, assessment records, and reports in accordance with IB standards.
• Facilitate opportunities for exhibitions, showcases, and community engagement in the arts.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning and whole-school initiatives.
• Engage in IB training, professional development, and ongoing curriculum planning.
• Adhere to school policies, ensure student wellbeing, and exemplify the school’s values and mission.
