The Opportunity: Commencing in the 2026-27 academic year, we are seeking a Math and Business Teacher to join our Senior School under a full-time, one-year contract. The successful candidate will allocate 80% of their teaching time to Math and 20% to Business, possessing a strong background and experience in instructing Senior School Math and Business. The chosen individual will be part of the Math team, reporting to the department's Instructional Leader. This role is available to fill an existing vacancy, with a planned start date in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultivate a classroom atmosphere centered on social-emotional learning to promote both academic and personal growth.
- Motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for a solid foundation in further education, tailored to their individual capabilities.
- Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty, and staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Learning Strategies team as needed to support all students through their academic and social-emotional journeys.
- Ensure that the written, taught, and assessed curriculum aligns with IB and Ministry of Education standards while incorporating differentiated instruction.
- Develop culturally relevant, inclusive, and responsive Math and Business curricula for a diverse student population.
- Assist students in gaining interdisciplinary insights through collaborative inquiry units with faculty across different subjects.
- Prepare course outlines, unit plans, and lesson plans that incorporate all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with an emphasis on inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning.
- Maintain accurate records as mandated by the Ministry, IBO, and school policies.
- Regularly communicate student progress to students, colleagues, and parents, including formal updates via report cards and parent-teacher conferences.
- Stay updated on best practices in your subject area and teaching methodologies through professional literature, workshops, and development opportunities.
- Actively participate in faculty, department, and school meetings, and collaborate with course teams to plan, review, and refine the written curriculum.
- Engage in co-curricular activities and supervision duties.
- Provide additional support to students outside of regular class hours.
- Function as an Advisor, mentoring students through consistent meetings.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, specializing in Math.
- Certification from the Ontario College of Teachers or an equivalent degree with I/S qualifications in Math and Business.
- Ideally, a minimum of three years of teaching experience.
- Familiarity with and experience in the IB curriculum is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in curriculum development and assessment practices suitable for the developmental stages of students.
- A relationship-focused educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies into their teaching.
- Experience and/or a dedication to integrating principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the curriculum.
- Open to innovation and collaborative efforts.
- Proficient with relevant technology and capable of operating in a laptop and online learning environment.
- Able to deliver educational programs electronically and use digital communication to engage with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community.

Target Hiring Range:
Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined by years of relevant teaching experience, educational qualifications, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 to $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and from $101,615.33 to $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of relevant experience.
