About this Role
York House School is inviting applications from compassionate, innovative, and qualified Primary Grade Teachers who are dedicated to providing an exceptional 21st Century learning environment for our students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in instructional and assessment practices, possess a strong passion for teaching, and have a deep understanding of effective learning strategies for girls. This position involves teaching Grade 1, covering all core subjects, and participating in co-curricular activities that enhance students' school experiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- British Columbia Teacher’s certification or its equivalent
- Qualification in elementary education
- Minimum of three years of elementary teaching experience
- Experience in coaching and/or extracurricular activities is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- In-depth understanding of the BC Curriculum
- Familiarity with inquiry-based and/or project-based learning methodologies
- Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach and its relevance for school-aged children
- Proficient in teaching language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies
- Skilled in differentiating instruction, including small-group math interventions and targeted early literacy strategies
- Awareness of current research regarding girls and learning
- Proven experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and nurturing educator
- Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects
- Collaborative, flexible, and effective team player
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
