Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching within a bilingual or ESL setting
- Teaching experience in cross-cultural or northern Canada contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
- Proven ability to create a positive learning atmosphere using effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in cultivating respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Ability to promote student well-being and active participation
- Engagement with students outside the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience collaborating in the planning of instruction and student support
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a school team
- Contribution to a shared, community-oriented environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Iqaluit, Nunavut: $15,016
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
