Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
• Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
• Teaching experience in a bilingual or ESL setting
• Background in cross-cultural or northern-Canada teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
• Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
• Experience employing current assessment methodologies to inform learning
• Ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere using effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Proven experience in cultivating respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Commitment to promoting student wellbeing and engagement
• Active involvement with students beyond the classroom setting, when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
• Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
• Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
• Contribution to a shared, community-oriented learning environment

Compensation and benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kinngait, Nunavut: $20,980
• Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
• Current Government of Nunavut employees must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside of Nunavut must submit a copy of a valid public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
