The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department invites applications for a full-time term position at Sally Ross School in Hall Lake, Saskatchewan.

Position: Principal

The Principal is tasked with the comprehensive administration and operation of the school, ensuring alignment with local policies and provincial curriculum standards. Collaborating closely with the Director of Education, Superintendent, and the Education Board, the Principal will lead, manage, coordinate, and supervise all educational and administrative activities within the school.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing long-term planning, development, leadership, and budget management for the school's operations.
• Providing guidance, leadership, and direction to teaching staff, paraprofessionals, and support personnel.
• Administering the school budget, which includes reviewing, analyzing, and adjusting budgets to ensure compliance with allocated expenditures.
• Establishing and executing both long-term and short-term goals and objectives for the academic year.
• Ensuring adherence to the school year calendar, class schedules, and Saskatchewan curriculum implementation.
• Creating and executing a public relations strategy to enhance community awareness of the school and its programs.
• Ensuring the active engagement of school extracurricular programs, including sports, recreational, and cultural activities.
• Conducting evaluations of all educational staff in accordance with the LLRIB Personnel Policy Manual.
• Completing all necessary reports and maintaining records of transactions and statistics.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Education degree and a Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate; preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s Degree or Post-Graduate training.
• Previous administrative experience in a First Nation school is advantageous.
• Some familiarity with budget management, school policies, student safety standards, and human resources management.
• A strong team player dedicated to collaborating with community members, the education board, and the administrative team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts with objectivity and understanding.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• A solid work ethic and adaptability when challenges arise.
• An appreciation for the aspirations and needs of First Nation communities and empathy for First Nation children.
• Willingness to conduct home visits and support attendance needs.
• Knowledge of the Early Years Evaluation (EYE) is a plus.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Ability to provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Verification of previous teaching experience (if applicable) is required.
