The Ministry of Education, through the Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch at the Milton Campus (Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf and Trillium Demonstration School), offers school/student lodging programs with a strong tradition of addressing the academic, personal, social, emotional, and developmental needs of children. About the job
What responsibilities will you have?
In this position, you will:
• Prepare a wide array of foods utilizing standard volume cooking techniques, ensuring compliance with set menus, work schedules, and dietary guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness in the food service area, including equipment and utensils.
• Aid in the receiving and stocking of food supplies.
• Assist with inventory management.
• Perform additional tasks associated with the operation of a large school cafeteria.

What qualifications do you bring?
Knowledge and Experience:
• You possess extensive knowledge of food preparation, storage methods, and the operation of kitchen equipment, typically gained through completing a post-secondary culinary training program or relevant work experience.
• You have either completed a Food Handlers Certificate or are willing to obtain one.
• You have proven experience with institutional cooking methods, particularly in large volume cooking.
• You are familiar with operating commercial and institutional food preparation equipment.
• You understand nutritional principles to assist in menu planning.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You have strong communication abilities, including the capacity to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
• You can work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.

Physical Work:
• You are capable of working shifts and performing physically demanding tasks.
