Position Overview: We are in search of an enthusiastic and committed Educator to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing educational programs that honor diversity, advocate for equity, and celebrate the rich cultural legacy of our community. This role demands a strong dedication to indigenization, a focus on competency-based education, and a creative approach to land-based teaching.

Responsibilities:

Course Development: Work collaboratively with fellow educators, Elders, and community stakeholders to create and implement a competency-based curriculum that is grounded in Indigenous knowledge and values.

Cultural Inclusion: Cultivate an educational setting that appreciates and integrates varied Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring the curriculum accurately represents the local Indigenous culture.

Equity and Inclusion: Employ strategies that advance equity and inclusion within the school environment, addressing inequities and creating a sense of belonging for every student.

Community Engagement: Act as a bridge between the school and the community, actively seeking input, collaboration, and feedback to continually enhance educational programs.

Land-Based Education: Design and incorporate land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, nurturing a profound connection to the land and traditional practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education

Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

The following criteria will be pivotal in the selection process:

A solid comprehension of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.

Experience in implementing inquiry-based instructional methods.

Experience in curriculum execution with an emphasis on competency-based education.

Experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation.

A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Familiarity with the Inclusive Schooling practices of the Northwest Territories.

Knowledge of land-based education principles and methodologies.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

Compensation

$95,232 - $153,748 + Northern Living Allowance: $2
