Following the promotion of the current postholder, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Headteacher – Learning and Teaching to join our leadership team commencing September 2026. The ideal candidate will be passionate, motivated to raise standards, and committed to ensuring excellence for all learners. Job Purpose
The primary role is to spearhead initiatives in learning, teaching, and professional development across all school phases, further enhancing the strong practices and coaching culture already established. This position will include a teaching commitment as either a subject or primary specialist, demonstrating high-quality instruction that leads to exceptional student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate exemplary classroom practice and support colleagues in delivering consistently high-quality teaching across both Primary and Secondary levels.
- Oversee the evaluation and monitoring of teaching and learning, ensuring consistency and quickly addressing areas in need of improvement.
- Manage the coaching program and professional development systems, ensuring their effectiveness across the school.
- Play a crucial role in self-evaluation and school improvement planning by utilizing various evidence to inform decisions.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, professional dialogue, and evidence-based professional development.
- Assist in the design and assessment of efficient performance management systems for all staff.
- Lead strategic teaching initiatives throughout the institution.
- Exhibit a reflective, solution-oriented leadership style focused on continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Contribute to the broader school community through events, extracurricular activities, and engagement with the community.
- Maintain the highest standards in safeguarding and student welfare.
- Pursue ongoing personal professional development as a senior leader.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by school leadership.
The successful applicant will be a qualified UK teacher (BEd, PGCE, or PGDE) with a proven track record of enhancing teaching and learning. They will possess strong leadership qualities, a commitment to high standards, and the ability to inspire both staff and students.
