About This Role

Subject teachers play a crucial role in effectively realizing the School’s Mission and Vision. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of students’ needs, encompassing both academic and pastoral elements. Teachers are also expected to engage in collaborative teamwork.

Skills and Qualifications


Preferably a native German speaker


Possession of a qualified German degree (Master’s preferred)


An acknowledged teaching qualification from your home country


At least two years of teaching experience


Experience teaching IB MYP German Language and Literature and/or IB DP German (A and/or B)


Dedication to ongoing IB and other professional development


A commitment to fostering a growing school community among staff and students


Ability to provide evidence of differentiated and scaffolded lessons/curriculum


Essential experience in an international school environment


A commitment to diversity and inclusion, alongside adapting and developing pedagogical approaches


A good sense of humor!

Specific Responsibilities

Area 1: Planning and Preparation

The teacher is expected to:


Show a strong understanding of the subject area content.


Effectively utilize available materials and resources, including technology.


Design effective lessons, units, and differentiated instruction tailored to individual student needs.


Create learning experiences that challenge students, cater to diverse learners in each classroom, and reflect a robust commitment to concept-based teaching and learning.


Plan collaboratively to enhance student learning.

Area 2: Teaching, Learning, and Assessing

The teacher is expected to:


Deliver age-appropriate and subject-relevant curriculum using a variety of teaching strategies.


Maintain consistently high expectations for academic achievement, building upon students’ existing knowledge and experiences.


Incorporate IB teaching approaches within classroom practices to facilitate inquiry-based, concept-driven units and lessons.


Develop strategies that actively promote the IB Learner Profile.


Employ a variety of suitable assessment tools and reporting methods to monitor student progress.


Provide regular, timely, clear, and constructive feedback to support and enhance student learning.


Address the needs of students who may not be proficient in the language of instruction.


Encourage students to take an active role in their own learning.


Inspire students to become creative and critical thinkers.


Offer students frequent opportunities for self-reflection regarding their learning.


Utilize a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to inform and adapt teaching and learning.


Exhibit qualities such as patience, empathy, interest, and concern for students.

Area 3: Learning Environment

The teacher is expected to:


Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment for students.


Collaborate and work positively with all members of the school community.


Implement effective classroom management that acknowledges the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.


Manage classroom procedures and routines.


Practice positive behavior management techniques.


Identify and prevent potential behavior issues.

Area 4: Professional Responsibilities

The teacher is expected to:


Reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching practices.


Engage in collaborative planning with the team.


Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders.


Maintain professional and constructive relationships with parents, staff, and students.


Keep parents informed about their children’s learning and be proactive in communication.


Maintain current records using school platforms.


Stay informed about pedagogical developments that enhance student learning.


Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the school.


Assist the school in various capacities, including supervision duties on a rotating basis, teaching classes assigned by the School Principal, and supporting students with Personal Projects, Service as Action, homeroom responsibilities, etc.


Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.


Participate in pre-school year development meetings.


Coordinate with the learning support department regarding students with academic concerns or those needing additional support.


Communicate with the school counselor and/or Senior Leadership Team when a student is identified as at-risk.


Report any changes in individual students' behavior or welfare as necessary.

General

The teacher is expected to:


Support community and school-related activities that enhance school life.


Assist with additional activities or duties as assigned by the School Principal within the scope of teaching responsibilities.

Compensation

3520 € - 6255 € per month (Pay scale based on experience)
