About This Role

Main Accountabilities:

At SISC, teachers are responsible for instructing a classroom of up to 25 students, varying by grade level. For students in grades 1 through 5, instruction will follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework.

A teacher is expected to:

● Possess a strong grasp of the Cambridge International curriculum standards and experience in addressing achievement disparities.

● Craft engaging and innovative lessons that support students' academic, social, and emotional development.

● Enthusiastically integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom.

● Foster collaboration with colleagues while promoting understanding and communication within a diverse educational and cultural context.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

● Provide dynamic and effective lessons that inspire a love for learning in students.

● Meet the learning objectives of the Cambridge International Curriculum through comprehensive content and effective delivery methods.

● Design and execute a thorough and well-sequenced learning program that aligns with current pedagogical practices and individual student standards.

● Develop daily lesson plans and activities for students, informed by educational standards at national, local, and school levels, as well as knowledge of developmental behaviors.

● Plan and implement interdisciplinary learning and teaching initiatives.

● Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction through discussions, direct teaching, demonstrations, and independent practice, utilizing a variety of effective methods.

● Differentiate lessons as necessary to ensure all students can access the curriculum, regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency, or interest in the subject matter.

● Foster an environment of active, genuine learning by employing diverse teaching strategies tailored to all students' needs.

● Assess student performance based on established standards using various methods, including observation, performance-based assessments, or other standardized testing practices.

● Monitor student attendance and ensure timely communication of absences to the appropriate office.

● Select suitable mathematics materials and develop a creative approach to teaching and learning.

● Organize and prepare activities for school and community events, assisting students in effectively showcasing and presenting their work.

● Track each student's progress and keep both students and parents informed through channels such as Managua and other communication methods.

● Assist students in participating in internal or external competitions or activities.

● Develop, organize, and lead the School’s Co-Curricular/After-School Programs.

● Collaborate with other staff members to ensure that events and activities are organized with minimal disruption to the regular schedule.

● Attend subject or area association meetings as needed and maintain connections with professional organizations. Actively seek to enhance your subject area by utilizing and implementing current teaching methods and curriculum tools.

● Be available for additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the position and stay informed about the Southbridge calendar of events, including class activities.

● Serve as a positive role model for students, parents, colleagues, and the wider community of Southbridge International School Cambodia.

● Adhere to and uphold all policies and procedures of Southbridge International School Cambodia (SISC) and take reasonable care to ensure that actions or omissions do not jeopardize the health and safety of others in the school.

● Apply fundamental knowledge related to anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation and its relevance in the workplace, with the ability to articulate the principles of equal opportunity and valuing diversity.

● Demonstrate a commitment to promoting best practices in student wellbeing and child safety by implementing SISC policies and procedures.

● Maintain professional communication standards with staff, parents, and students through appropriate channels.

● Undertake other duties as assigned by superiors.

● Degree in Education or equivalent qualification.

● Excellent interpersonal skills.

● Capability to work with minimal supervision.

● Dependable with good time management.

● Organized and composed under pressure.

● Willingness to work outside standard office hours (including evenings and weekends), with compensation offered as time off in lieu.

● Ability to accurately follow instructions and demonstrate initiative where appropriate.

● Competence in organizing the work of others and adhering to deadlines.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
