About This Role

At Castlefield Campus, part of Ambition Community Trust, we are in search of skilled Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated and inclusive Pathways department team.

This role is available as a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on the school’s requirements, including funding and staffing considerations. There is also a chance for the selected candidate to be considered for a permanent position in the future.

We are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants who thrive in a collaborative environment and possess a solid understanding of various teaching, learning, and behavior management strategies. The successful applicant will become part of an enthusiastic and supportive team, working to inspire students to achieve success while fostering a positive learning atmosphere for all children in the school.

A Pathways Teaching Assistant/Keyworker will support disengaged students in the community or at home, utilizing the settings that best meet their educational needs. This role will also involve partnering with schools, families, and agencies to help students overcome barriers to learning.

Please be aware that this is a driving position, requiring a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and business insurance to perform the job effectively.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
• Collaborating with various class teachers to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.
• Providing mentorship to children individually or in small groups.
• Accompanying groups on educational trips.
• Assisting with assessments and documenting learning progress.
• Partnering with teachers to develop learning resources and environments.
• Creating a safe and encouraging space for all learners.
• Facilitating opportunities for every learner to achieve their potential, regardless of their abilities.
• Engaging with hard-to-reach pupils and families to provide educational support and beyond.

The ideal candidate will:
• Hold qualifications equivalent to National Qualifications Framework Level 3, such as NVQ 3, A/AS levels, or similar.
• Demonstrate a proven ability to work independently.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both children and adults.
• Be proficient in utilizing relevant technology and equipment.
• Approach the role with a proactive attitude.
• Be dedicated to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem, and progress of every individual at the school.

You will be actively involved in the school community, providing assistance where necessary and supporting our most vulnerable pupils. We seek candidates who can recognize the potential in all our exceptional learners and help cultivate an environment where they can thrive.

Payroll Information (if selected):
• Staff members receive their salary on the 15th of each month, covering the hours worked during that month.
• For full-time staff, in accordance with the ACT Employee Contract, the full-time equivalent (FTE) hours will be 36 hours per week. However, full-time employees are only required to work—and will be compensated for—35 hours per week.
