About This Role

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more

Thanks to our continued growth, we're looking for a Teacher of English to join our friendly, supportive and innovative English team in September 2026.

If you love English and want to share that passion with young people, we'd love to hear from you. You'll enjoy creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom where every student can find their voice, and you'll be committed to the achievement of all our students. We welcome applications from teachers at every stage of their career - and if you're an ECT taking your first steps into teaching, this could be the perfect place to start, with a team that will support you every step of the way.

Ormiston Endeavour Academy is an 11-16 secondary Academy situated in north-east Ipswich. As an Academy which has seen significant growth over the last two academic years, we take pride in the high levels of support, care and challenge we offer all of our students. Endeavour students are warm, welcoming and willing to push themselves to succeed. Our staff are committed to providing a caring yet challenging environment in which young people can learn, develop and achieve to their full potential.

Our curriculum is broad, rich and flexible, designed to support every student. In addition, we offer our students a broad enrichment programme which all staff are encouraged to participate in.

Ormiston Endeavour Academy is a member of the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), and together we are committed to ensuring that all students are given the opportunity to succeed in education and in life.

Why work for Ormiston Academies Trust?

Our vision is to create a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach - they are our greatest asset.

We exist to provide the best learning opportunities every day, in every school for every child. It is the people and teams in our Trust who make this a reality and ensure we have the greatest impact. If you join us at Ormiston, whatever your role, you can be sure of a role with purpose and meaning.

Ormiston, where every member of staff enjoys…

  • The opportunity to build on the legacy of those who came before - being part of one of the longest standing Trusts, created with the sole purpose of enabling children and young people to thrive
  • Working for a Trust nationally recognised for its impact on disadvantaged children - a rewarding, stimulating career where staff are challenged to be the best they can be, for the pupils we are proud to serve
  • Being part of a team and community where you belong - receiving bespoke and holistic support from a well-resourced and ambitious network of experts and professionals that work at the heart of communities
  • A supportive environment to grow your career - an extensive professional development programme, alongside flexible working arrangements and generous benefits

Ormiston Endeavour students are hard-working, polite and eager to learn and we're looking for someone who is passionate about English, an excellent communicator, and able to motivate and inspire young people. You'll hold high expectations of learning, achievement and behaviour, help drive whole-school improvement and make a positive contribution to our ethos and values.

Day to day, you'll plan and deliver high-quality English lessons, adapting your teaching to suit a wide range of learning styles and abilities. You'll use a variety of resources and technology to bring the subject to life, assess and monitor students' progress, and give the constructive feedback that helps them grow as readers and writers. You'll also have the chance to organise and take part in English-related extracurricular activities, and to work closely with colleagues to share best practice and ensure a cohesive experience for every student.

In return, we will offer you:

  • Access to a wide range of employee benefits
  • Support from a high performing team and access to Trust-wide subject network
  • An academy which is focused on supporting the wellbeing of staff
  • Local Government Pension Scheme and on-site parking

Please see the job description for further information. You are welcome to contact us for an informal chat or to arrange a visit.

If you're an enthusiastic English teacher who wants to work with a great team of staff and students, we'd love to hear from you - please apply before the closing date stated above. Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview before the closing date and close the vacancy early should a suitable candidate be found.
