The York School, an independent co-educational establishment situated in midtown Toronto, offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. JOB PURPOSE
The York School is seeking Supply Teachers for the 2025/2026 Academic Year to assist with curriculum delivery and support classroom learning during the regular Teacher's absence. While advance assignments are preferable, Supply Teachers may also be requested for same-day coverage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fulfill all standard teaching duties to advance the curriculum set forth by the regular Teacher.
- Consistently demonstrate appropriate behavior for students and fellow community members.
- Execute lesson plans while upholding academic integrity and creating an engaging learning atmosphere.
- Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom Teacher at the end of each class or teaching session.
- Understand and adhere to school policies and procedures, including those related to emergencies.
- Promptly report any student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and disciplinary concerns to the appropriate authority, either immediately or as soon as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Experience and training in teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework is advantageous.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, positively contributing to an inclusive school culture.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong capability to engage with students, parents, and staff collaboratively, emphasizing a service-oriented approach marked by professionalism, respect, and responsiveness in all interactions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in navigating a technology-rich educational setting, and familiarity with Google Workspace is considered beneficial.
