About This Role

As we broaden our offerings at Chilton Bridge School, we are seeking a PSHE/RSE Lead to become a part of our school community. Chilton Bridge is an independent special school catering to students aged 6 to 19, located in the picturesque setting of Chilton Cantelo, near Yeovil.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, dynamic, and eager to embrace a contemporary approach to educating students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who is dedicated to PSHE/RSE and is interested in contributing to a forward-thinking and innovative curriculum.

The PSHE/RSE Lead will take charge of this subject across the entire school, developing subject-specific plans, resources, and ensuring quality assurance. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting colleagues in delivering the subject through our project-based curriculum, Enterprise Learning.

This position offers outstanding prospects for career advancement, cross-group networking, and involvement in our research-driven initiatives.

Candidates must:

- Possess a relevant qualification to teach at GCSE level as a minimum
- Demonstrate a passion for PSHE/RSE and the potential to teach it through a creative, dynamic, project-based curriculum
- Have experience in middle leadership or subject leadership
- Be a collaborative team player capable of coaching and modeling exemplary teaching practices to peers

Our imaginative, tailored approach to education focuses on well-being and fostering independence. From the moment students arrive, we evaluate their individual interests, passions, and aspirations to create a project-based curriculum that meets their needs, ensuring they are well-equipped to achieve their goals and succeed.

We recognize the significance of establishing meaningful relationships with students and families to promote growth and the development of relational milestones such as trust and shared enjoyment. Care and connection are central to our ethos, and we strive to ensure that all staff members feel valued as well.

We are deeply committed to providing high-quality professional development for all our team members. As part of our expanding group, we offer considerable opportunities for collaboration with colleagues to enhance innovative teaching practices.

The well-being of our staff is a top priority; thus, we provide opportunities to acknowledge their hard work and dedication while promoting a healthy work-life balance. We continually assess our practices to ensure that our staff can concentrate on what matters most: creating a rich environment for children and young adults to learn and thrive.

While we recognize that each of our schools serves its unique community, we uphold the Spaghetti Bridge principles, which ensure high expectations and equal opportunities for all our students.

We encourage early applications as we may fill the position before the closing date.
