We are seeking to appoint a talented individual with a passion for reading and providing students with the best possible access to the richest learning resources. The role presents an exciting opportunity to become part of our professional and friendly support team. This is a part time role for 27.5 hours a week.

About our School

Cockshut Hill School is rated Good with Outstanding features in our recent Ofsted inspection is part of the Summit Learning Trust comprising Cockshut Hill, Lyndon School, Ninestiles, an Academy, four primary schools and the Solihull Sixth Form College. Our trust’s Professional Learning Institute offers all of our staff opportunities to collaborate with great educators from across our sector. We are one of the few schools in Birmingham to receive The Rights Respecting Schools, UNICEF UK Gold Award, for successfully embedding children’s rights throughout the school in our practices and ethos.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development of the school library, ensuring it supports the educational aims and objectives of the school.
• In conjunction with senior and middle leaders, contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school library policy.
• Establish the library as a central hub for reading, literacy, research, independent learning and academic support.
• Lead and coordinate initiatives that promote reading for pleasure across the school.
• Organise and support reading events, author visits, literacy celebrations, competitions and enrichment activities.
• Support targeted learners with reading interventions designed to improve reading fluency, comprehension and confidence.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Be highly organised and will oversee the development of learning resources across the school.
• Have an excellent understanding of the role and expectations.
• Will need a minimum of grade C/4 in English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) and have experience of the Microsoft packages (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook etc).
