Recruitment Process

Our primary recruitment phase consists of in-person interviews conducted in the UK with the Principal at the following locations:

  • London – Saturday and Sunday, 28 February–1 March 2026
  • Manchester – Saturday and Sunday, 7–8 March 2026

Alternative arrangements can be made for different times and locations upon request. For candidates located outside the UK, the standard recruitment process will be followed, which may include online or on-campus interviews as applicable.

Position Profile

  • Preference will be given to those with direct teaching experience in the UK.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in AL/IGCSE/AP in the relevant subject.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage high-achieving students.
  • A degree in the relevant subject area is required.
  • A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is mandatory.

Specific Responsibilities of Teaching Position

  • Design and deliver lessons in accordance with the Scheme of Work, incorporating a variety of learning activities.
  • Develop and administer assessments that align with departmental standards, providing timely feedback.
  • Continuously assess student performance, offer constructive feedback, and create assessments to monitor progress and identify areas needing improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to cultivate a positive and supportive work environment, sharing resources and best practices.
  • Opportunities exist for teaching AP Biology.
  • Potential to teach RPQ (projects) and GNT (Gifted and Talented).

Brief Description of SCIE

We are a UK curriculum high school (Cambridge International AS/AL & IGCSE) primarily serving Chinese students in English as they prepare for international universities.

Since 2025, we have added an AP stream, offering opportunities for teachers interested in teaching various AP subjects.

The College’s mission is to prepare students in a challenging international environment, promoting academic excellence, social responsibility, creativity, independence, and enthusiasm, ultimately equipping them for future prospects.

  • Highly selective admissions process, including English and Mathematics assessments.
  • Instruction and communication are conducted in AS/AL English, with students generally achieving first language proficiency, many studying AS/AL English language or literature at A1/A2 levels.
  • Over 1800 students, exclusively in high school – covering UK Key Stages 4 & 5.
  • Fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) & WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the US), and regional members of FOBISIA & EARCOS.
  • Examination boards include AS/AL, IGCSE (Cambridge International and AQA), and AP (College Board).
  • Operates as a day and boarding school – teachers are not responsible for boarding duties and do not work evenings or nights.
  • Established in 2003.

Subject Department Introduction

The Biology department comprises 14 dedicated and knowledgeable teachers alongside 4 committed technicians. We have 9 specialized Biology laboratories, including a state-of-the-art genetic engineering lab (this year, SCIE students achieved the Grand Prize at the iGEM competition).

Teachers cater to various year groups, from IGCSE (UK years 10 and 11) to Cambridge AS and A Levels (UK years 12 and 13), as well as AP Biology. Biology is a favored subject, with approximately one-third of students selecting it at the AS level. Many students pursue Biology-related disciplines at prestigious universities.
