About This Role

Instructional Leadership (KS4 Focus)
Work in close partnership with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to maintain and enhance outstanding teaching and learning standards throughout Key Stage 4. Promote evidence-driven practices, impactful teaching strategies, and effective assessment methods that contribute to remarkable GCSE results. Assess the quality of teaching through lesson observations, work evaluations, and data analysis, ensuring every student benefits from consistency, challenge, and progress.

Curriculum and Assessment (KS4)
Manage the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the KS4 curriculum. Ensure that the schemes of work are ambitious, well-organized, and compliant with examination board requirements. Oversee assessment processes at KS4, which encompass internal moderation, intervention strategies, and student progress tracking to promote high achievement and added value.

Raising Standards and Outcomes
Utilize performance data to identify trends, gaps, and priorities at KS4. Create and execute targeted intervention strategies for underperforming groups, including disadvantaged students and those with additional needs. Hold middle leaders accountable for upholding high standards within their departments while supporting them in achieving measurable improvements.

Staff Development and Professional Growth
Lead professional development programs focused on delivering high-quality teaching at KS4, including exam preparation, feedback systems, curriculum development, and adaptive teaching techniques. Mentor and coach middle leaders and classroom teachers to enhance instructional practices and improve student outcomes. Engage in performance management processes with an emphasis on classroom impact.

Student Achievement and Academic Culture
Foster an environment characterized by high expectations, academic ambition, and personal responsibility throughout KS4. Ensure effective systems are in place to support student progress, engagement, and well-being, particularly during examination years. Collaborate with pastoral leaders to remove barriers to learning and secure positive post-school pathways for all students.

Quality Assurance and Accountability
Establish and maintain comprehensive quality assurance processes to evaluate teaching effectiveness, curriculum impact, and student progress at KS4. Provide regular reports to the Headteacher and Governors concerning standards, progress, and examination results. Ensure compliance with national standards and examination regulations.

Parental and Stakeholder Engagement
Develop strong partnerships with parents and guardians, especially regarding KS4 pathways, options, and examination preparation. Communicate effectively about student progress, expectations, and support strategies to optimize student success.

School Leadership and Management
Contribute significantly to the strategic oversight and daily management of the secondary phase. Assist in supporting whole-school priorities, policies, and improvement planning, ensuring that KS4 initiatives align with broader school development objectives.

Experience and Knowledge
Proven success in teaching and leadership positions within a secondary education setting, with a track record of enhancing attainment at KS4. Thorough understanding of GCSE curriculum frameworks, assessment techniques, and examination standards. Experience in leading teaching and learning initiatives that have markedly improved student outcomes.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
