The Role

We are in search of an enthusiastic and driven IT Coordinator to spearhead, develop, and oversee high-quality IT initiatives for Years 1–8. This position focuses on enhancing teaching practices, fostering curriculum innovation, and ensuring optimal student outcomes in IT and Computing.

In this role, you will:


Steer the strategic progression of a well-structured IT curriculum for Years 1–8


Maintain high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment within IT


Guide and mentor colleagues by demonstrating best practices, engaging in professional discussions, and offering targeted support


Evaluate standards through lesson observations, learning walks, and pupil feedback


Examine attainment and progress data to inform planning and elevate standards


Encourage the effective and uniform application of digital technologies throughout the curriculum


Ensure seamless continuity and advancement across Pre-Prep, Prep, and Senior School phases


Participate in overall school self-evaluation, inspection preparedness, and quality assurance procedures


Promote an inclusive environment, supporting students of diverse abilities, including EAL, BML, and SEND learners


Collaborate with parents to enhance their understanding of IT learning and student progress

Qualifications and Experience

Essential



A recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent)


A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field


Minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching IT/Computing


Experience teaching in Primary and/or lower Secondary settings


Solid understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and progression in IT


Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills


A collaborative mindset and dedication to ongoing professional development

Desirable



Experience in a British curriculum or independent school environment


Experience leading or assisting colleagues, or a clear ambition for leadership


Knowledge of I/GCSE IT or Computing pathways


Experience working with EAL, BML, or SEND students


Prior international teaching experience

The Ideal Candidate

This position is especially suitable for individuals with experience in teaching IT across Primary and lower Secondary phases who aspire to advance into a Subject Coordinator role within a high-performing independent school setting.

The successful candidate will:


Exhibit a strong enthusiasm for integrating engaging, subject-specific IT and Computing skills for Years 1–8


Have a genuine interest in curriculum design, inquiry-based learning, STEM education, and assessment for learning


Demonstrate a desire to develop expertise in academic strategy to enhance the growth and success of IT within the school


Possess a solid understanding of, or eagerness to learn about, the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3, and I/GCSE IT and Computing pathways


Show emerging or established leadership capabilities, with the ambition to coach, mentor, and support colleagues


Appreciate the significance of data analysis in improving student outcomes


Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to continual improvement in teaching and learning


Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity


Cultivate positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, contributing to a culture of high expectations and professional growth


Have experience teaching diverse learners, including those with EAL, BML, or SEND, or a strong willingness to develop in this area
