We are currently seeking a highly skilled and passionate Teacher of IB Psychology to join our team with immediate availability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Curriculum Delivery: Instruct students on the IB DP Psychology syllabus (SL and HL), encompassing Biological, Cognitive, and Sociocultural approaches, along with specialized options (e.g., Abnormal or Developmental Psychology).
• Research Supervision: Guide students through the Internal Assessment (IA), ensuring robust experimental design, adherence to ethical standards, and thorough statistical analysis.
• Extended Essay (EE): Serve as a supervisor for students conducting their independent research project in Psychology.
• Assessment & Feedback: Prepare students for external examinations (Papers 1, 2, and 3), utilizing official IB criteria to provide constructive feedback.
• Inclusion & Differentiation: Work in collaboration with the Inclusion team to modify the curriculum for diverse learners and apply Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
• Well-being & Prevention: Incorporate psychological concepts into school-wide initiatives that foster resilience, mental health, and overall student well-being.
• Pastoral Care: Collaborate with coordinators and parents to support students' emotional and academic achievements within the rigorous DP framework.
• Professional Development: Assist in staff training on child/adolescent development and participate in the admissions process through pedagogical assessments.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Academic Background: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology (Essential). A teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
• IB Expertise: Demonstrated experience in teaching IB DP Psychology or a keen willingness to pursue IBO Category 1 training.
• Research Proficiency: A strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods, along with the capability to teach descriptive and inferential statistics.
• Language Skills: Near-native fluency in English (as the IB Psychology curriculum and assessments are conducted in English). Proficiency in Portuguese is a significant advantage for community engagement.
• Pedagogical Creativity: The ability to design stimulating experiments and utilize case studies to illustrate abstract psychological concepts.
• Organizational Excellence: Competence in managing internal IB deadlines (IAs, Predicted Grades) while upholding high classroom management standards.
• Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using educational technology and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Excel, or Google Sheets) for psychological research.
• Global Mindset: A commitment to the IB Learner Profile, promoting international-mindedness and ethical reasoning among all students.
