We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Biology specialist for our secondary school to join our esteemed secondary department.
The selected individual will be responsible for teaching a range of ages and abilities, including GCSE and A-Level students.
This position is part of our strategic expansion to accommodate growing student enrollment and demand for our programs.
General Professional Responsibilities
The professional duties expected of a teacher include the following:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons, setting and assessing student work, and reporting on their progress in accordance with school policies.
- Utilizing data to guide classroom instruction, monitoring student progress, and implementing timely interventions.
- Preparing students for public examinations and assessing them accordingly, as well as participating in meetings related to the administration of these examinations.
- Engaging with parents through consultations and report writing.
- Attending Parents’ Evenings and Open Evenings.
- Maintaining discipline and a positive learning environment among students.
- Contributing to departmental meetings and attending Open Evenings.
- Collaborating as part of a team to shape departmental policies, introduce curricular initiatives, and develop teaching and assessment methods.
- Participating in administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
- Staying informed about curriculum innovations, participating in CPD arrangements, and contributing to personal professional growth.
- Collaborating with support teachers within the classroom.
- Assuming responsibility for mentoring a beginning teacher, if applicable.
- Setting assignments for classes during planned absences and preparing work for absent colleagues when necessary.
- Taking charge of a designated area related to curriculum, administration, or project innovation.
- Completing additional tasks as reasonably assigned by the Head of Department.
- Acquainting themselves with the DSIB inspection framework and understanding the expectations for outstanding teaching and learning in the UAE.
- Supporting UAE initiatives and cultural expectations.
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant must:
- Hold relevant qualifications.
- Have experience teaching in British Curriculum schools, specifically with IGCSE and A-level courses.
- Be passionate about Biology and able to effectively share this enthusiasm with students.
- Understand assessment and examination requirements for KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Be an exceptional teacher who can demonstrate outstanding practice and student progress.
- Work effectively within a team.
- Stay updated on developments in their subject area.
- Be dedicated to professional growth, seeking opportunities for further training both within the department and externally to advance their career.
