Job Overview
Under the direction of the Head of School, the School Head is tasked with developing a thorough school development plan that includes both long-term and short-term objectives while guiding the team towards achieving these targets each academic year.
•
Assist ESL students in meeting their language needs to facilitate swift access to English language learning.
•
Design and deliver ESL lessons tailored for a diverse group of learners, including those with minimal English proficiency.
•
Incorporate English lessons into the curriculum as appropriate.
•
Work with ESL students and those facing challenges in English on an individual basis or in small groups during subject lessons to enhance their learning experience.
•
Participate in planning meetings with classroom teachers to exchange innovative strategies and ideas for supporting ESL learners, as well as prepare differentiated ESL materials for collaborative teaching sessions.
•
Provide high-quality instruction during parallel teaching sessions, ensuring that the language needs of students are met and that they demonstrate significant progress.
•
Regularly conduct assessments in speaking, listening, reading, and writing to monitor the progress of ESL learners.
•
Develop and maintain Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for all EAL students to address their specific learning needs.
•
Establish learner-focused relationships to create an environment where EAL/ESL students feel secure, respected, and encouraged to seek help and learn from their mistakes.
•
Show proven experience in providing ESL support within mainstream subject classes.
•
Have experience working with East Asian learners.
Qualification & Experience:
•
Possess a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent postgraduate qualification.
•
Have a minimum of three years’ experience in teaching, education, school administration, curriculum development, and evaluation practices, including (but not limited to) IGCSE and A-level academic management.
•
Experience in mentoring, leading, and managing a school in a collaborative learning setting.
•
Proficiency in teacher evaluation and professional development.
•
Experience in curriculum development.
•
Familiarity with boarding and pastoral duties, including evening duty and after-school CCAs, is a plus.
•
Strong knowledge of independent school management, especially regarding instructional practices, school culture, and operations.
•
Understanding of the international school application process.
•
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
