Founded in 1894, Oporto British School holds the distinction of being the oldest British School on the European mainland. It adheres to the English National Curriculum up to Key Stage 3, transitioning to the Cambridge IGCSE and subsequently the IB Diploma Programme. The Position

We are in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to enhance our vibrant Secondary Section starting in September 2026.

This full-time position involves teaching Mathematics at Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and the IB Diploma Programme. A willingness or capability to advance towards teaching IB Mathematics at Higher Level would be a significant asset.

You will become part of an energetic and supportive Mathematics department that holds a prominent position within the school, with students consistently achieving results that surpass UK and international standards. The successful applicant will be committed to outstanding teaching and learning, capable of inspiring students with a true passion for Mathematics, and eager to engage fully in the broader life of the school.

The ideal candidate will:

• Possess a relevant degree and teaching qualification

• Have experience teaching Mathematics up to school leaving age

• Ideally be familiar with IGCSE Mathematics and the IB Diploma Programme along with its foundational pedagogical principles

• Exhibit a student-centered approach, strong classroom management skills, and adaptability to diverse learning needs

• Enjoy collaboration, sharing best practices, and contributing to the ongoing development of the department
