St. Peter’s International School, situated in Palmela near Lisbon, accommodates approximately 1,500 students aged from 4 months to 18 years within a modern 37,000 m² campus. The institution provides a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), along with Cambridge programs and the International Baccalaureate, including boarding options for older students. We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and highly qualified IB / IGCSE Physics Teacher to implement the IGCSE and IB Physics programs starting in August 2026. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an educator committed to igniting scientific curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing students’ comprehension of the physical universe.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Craft and deliver dynamic, tailored lessons in IGCSE and IB Physics, along with Cambridge Lower Secondary Science (as required).

Promote a thorough understanding of fundamental physics concepts, including mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, energy, and modern physics.
•
Establish a vibrant, inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes inquiry, experimentation, and independent thought.
•
Relate physics concepts to real-world scenarios, scientific research, and technological advancements.
•
Incorporate hands-on laboratory work, investigative projects, data analysis, and inquiry-based learning methods.
•
Regularly evaluate student progress and offer constructive feedback to facilitate academic and personal development.
•
Participate in curriculum planning, ensuring that content aligns with international standards and remains current and engaging.
•
Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, such as science clubs, competitions, and enrichment programs.
•
Cultivate a respectful, supportive, and inclusive classroom culture that prioritizes student well-being.
•
Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance learning and development.
•
Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute to school initiatives, events, and mentorship.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
•
A degree in Physics, Education, or a related field (teaching qualification is preferred).
•
Experience teaching IGCSE and/or IB Physics, or similar international curricula.
•
A genuine passion for Physics education and the ability to inspire curiosity through scientific exploration.
•
Strong practical laboratory skills and a confident approach to experimental teaching.
•
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
•
Experience in an international or multicultural setting (preferred).
•
A strong command of English and a clear dedication to student well-being and safeguarding.
