About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and dedicated Public Speaking and Debate Teacher + Monitor to lead English language, public speaking, and communication activities during our Summer Camp program, which runs from 24 June to 25 July 2026. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting and implementing a thorough two-week program (to be repeated over two sessions) for students aged 9 and older, aimed at boosting their confidence in spoken English within a fun and supportive learning atmosphere.

In addition to teaching, the role involves supervising and monitoring students, assisting with evening events, and ensuring the overall safety, wellbeing, and positive experience for all participants in the camp.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Conduct interactive lessons and practical activities focused on English language, public speaking, and communication skills.


Tailor lesson content to cater to the diverse needs and interests of students.


Work alongside the program coordinator to design and structure the two-week camp schedule and desired learning outcomes.


Lead activities that enhance confidence in speaking English while expanding vocabulary and listening abilities.


Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying levels of skill and experience, ensuring each student makes individual progress.


Establish a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and critical thinking.


Implement assessment methods to evaluate student progress and offer constructive feedback.


Share insights and experiences that promote responsible language use.


Oversee students (typically 10–15 aged 9–17) ensuring they are supervised at all times.


Assist with evening activities, excursions, and airport transfers as per camp schedules.


Engage in duty rotations, covering breaks, meals, pool supervision, night monitoring, and transport duties when necessary.


Manage materials utilized during activities and help maintain cleanliness and organization throughout all areas.


Address first aid and wellbeing needs and promptly report any injuries, accidents, or illnesses.


Participate in training days, safeguarding sessions, and all staff meetings.


Adhere to school policies, staff handbook guidelines, uniform standards, and health and safety as well as safeguarding protocols at all times.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


A degree in English.


A solid foundation in language skills and communication.


Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.


Prior experience in program facilitation and curriculum delivery (preferred).


Must be at least 19 years old.


Advanced or Proficient English level (C1–C2 required).


Capacity to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team.


Skill in planning, prioritizing, and organizing tasks and activities.


Creativity and the ability to inspire innovation.


Ability to work autonomously and maintain self-motivation.


Strong time-management skills and the ability to fulfill commitments.


A positive, adaptable demeanor and the ability to navigate new and complex situations.


Dedication to professional conduct, safeguarding, and student welfare.


Valid authorization to work within the EU.

Compensation

349 € - 350 € per week (• Salary: Euros 1800 gross for the whole period. • Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance • Day Off: 3 mornings a week, Saturday afternoon and Sunday)
