About This Role

Job Overview: Established in 2015, Anne Hill International provides international education for children aged 2-13 and is poised to expand its secondary school campus in the coming years. Our mission is to deliver affordable, high-quality international education, and our vision is to cultivate well-rounded, globally minded lifelong learners.

Currently, our institution serves around 350 students from 30 different nations and is supported by a dedicated team of 30 teachers, each bringing diverse experiences to our community.

The new secondary school campus is set to open in August 2026, introducing a curriculum based on the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge Lower Secondary, leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). We are proud members of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a Teacher of Mathematics for Years 7 to 10. The curriculum will follow White Rose Mathematics and IGCSE, and while experience with these programs is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

All teachers are expected to engage with the pastoral/homeroom curriculum and contribute to after-school activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Subject Teachers are accountable for the academic development and pastoral care of their classes, adhering to the school's Guiding Statements, curriculum, and policies.

1. Set high aspirations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.

• Create a positive, secure, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement, supports risk-taking in learning, and builds confidence.

• Develop lesson plans with clear objectives that foster active participation, independence, collaboration, and connections across subjects.

• Maintain high expectations through strong relationships and inclusive practices.

2. Foster continuous progress and outcomes for all students.

• Understand each student’s needs to customize learning, utilizing curriculum sequencing and prior knowledge to drive advancement.

• Encourage student reflection, responsibility, and a conscientious approach to independent work and study.

3. Exhibit excellent subject and curriculum knowledge.

• Create learning opportunities that reinforce concepts, ignite interest, and challenge students intellectually.

• Continuously enhance professional skills through ongoing professional development, applying newfound knowledge to classroom practices with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and the importance of scholarship.

4. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.

• Design and conduct purposeful lessons tailored to meet diverse student needs, incorporating clear objectives, constructive feedback, and evidence-based strategies that promote growth.

• Cultivate positive classroom dynamics and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive, student-centered approach that supports both educational attainment and wellbeing.

5. Tailor teaching to the strengths and needs of students.

• Work with students to establish clear, meaningful goals, adjusting lessons to meet individual requirements using various strategies, including differentiation, questioning, active learning, and technology.

• Utilize assessment, feedback, and self-reflection to inform teaching, support progress, and create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and challenged.

6. Utilize assessment effectively and productively.

• Regularly assess student learning through diverse methods, providing clear feedback that aids in improvement and advancement.

• Apply assessment data consistently to inform instructional strategies, guide planning, and ensure all students realize their potential.

7. Ensure a high quality of provision.

• Communicate effectively with parents, offering clear feedback and guidance.

• Prepare and utilize resources aligned with student needs and engage support staff in planning and instruction.

• Manage time efficiently and conduct academic reporting diligently through updates, reports, and parent meetings to accurately reflect student progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• A University/College degree in the relevant subject area is preferred.

• PGCE or equivalent certifications are required.

• A minimum of three years of relevant experience is desirable but not mandatory.

• A proven history of supporting students from a variety of cultural backgrounds, including those with additional needs (e.g., English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
