About This Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Lead Teacher of Maths to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)

This is a permanent, full-time position on Teaching terms MPS–UPS plus TLR 2.1 allowance of £3,527, starting September 2026.

We’re looking for:

You will be a qualified teacher (QTS) with successful experience teaching within the 11–16 phase and a strong track record of delivering good or outstanding lessons. You will have excellent subject knowledge in Mathematics and a clear understanding of current curriculum developments.

You will be a confident and effective communicator with the ability to build strong professional relationships. With a passion for education, you will be committed to raising achievement and inspiring a love of learning in all students.

As a motivated and collaborative practitioner, you will demonstrate:

  • A proven ability to secure positive outcomes for students
  • The ability to lead, support and develop colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A commitment to high expectations, inclusion and student success

You will also be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extracurricular activities.

Main purpose of the role:

In addition to the professional responsibilities common to all classroom teachers, the Lead Teacher of Maths will play a key role in raising standards of teaching, learning and student achievement across the Mathematics curriculum.

Working closely with the Curriculum Leader, you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Lead on intervention strategies to improve attainment and progress
  • Monitor curriculum delivery, planning and student outcomes
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Ensure high standards of assessment, recording and reporting

You will also deputise for the Curriculum Leader where required and take responsibility for agreed areas of departmental leadership.

Leadership and curriculum responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Support and lead colleagues to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes
  • Contribute to lesson observations, coaching and mentoring
  • Help identify and deliver high-quality CPD and professional development
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Support the strategic development of the Maths curriculum
  • Contribute to school improvement priorities and self-evaluation
