About This Role

The opportunity

Castle EAST School are seeking to appoint a Lead Teacher of Creative Art, to lead on Creative Arts, which includes Arts Award, Design & Technology & Home Cooking. You will work across the school in all key stages to be part of our special school for pupils with Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs, starting from September 2026. This is a unique and extremely exciting opportunity to work in a truly outstanding provision where pupils with specific needs genuinely excel. As a specialist provision we are looking for an excellent KS3/4 Art specialist who is committed to meeting the complex and holistic needs of young people with C&I needs so that they can reach their full academic and personal potential at Castle EAST School.

The individual

As part of our focus on raising standards and embedding excellence we are excited to be looking to appoint a talented colleague to the role of Lead Teacher of Creative Art. The role will focus on ensuring our ongoing drive for excellent teaching, learning and attainment in creative arts but will also form part of a team of specialist colleagues who work across the school on our approach to truly inspiring and cutting-edge teaching.

You will have a keen interest in current pedagogical thinking and be excited at the prospect of working with colleagues across the school to drive the continuous improvement of teaching and learning that impacts on our students' learning and progress to mean they achieve outstanding outcomes - beyond expectation.

The length of your previous experience as an excellent classroom practitioner is less important to us than your clear vision on what can be achieved for our pupils, your understanding of high standards and your ability to motivate and inspire.

Our successful colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives.

  • Bring an unwavering commitment to doing whatever it takes
  • Understand how to support colleagues with a range of experience and help them to always be brilliant teachers.
