About This Role

Thomas Bewick Primary School are seeking to appoint a dedicated, resilient and nurturing Class Teacher to deliver bespoke Year 6 provision for a very small cohort of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a small group of 6-8 pupils requiring highly personalised learning, therapeutic support and consistent relationships in order to thrive both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a calm, safe and structured learning environment, supporting pupils to develop their independence, confidence and readiness for transition to secondary education.

The role requires a practitioner who is reflective, trauma-informed and committed to inclusive practice, working closely with families, colleagues and external professionals to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to succeed.

  • Demonstrate responsive, reflective and trauma-informed practice to support pupils’ social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning tailored to the needs of a small SEMH cohort.
  • Assess pupils’ needs and use detailed knowledge of SEND and adaptive teaching strategies to support progress.
  • Develop, implement and review individual support plans, ensuring provision aligns with EHCP outcomes or SEN Support documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with a full-time teaching assistant who supports the children in the provision.
  • Work collaboratively with the school SENCo, the children’s families and external agencies to provide coordinated support.
