Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not expected to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly regarded.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience in education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching within a bilingual or ESL environment
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational settings

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with modern assessment techniques to inform learning
- Experience in creating a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to establish respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in enhancing student well-being and engagement
- Involvement with students outside of the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Ability to work effectively within a school team
- Experience in a community-focused, shared learning environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Arctic Bay, Nunavut: $25,453
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Candidates from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications missing this documentation will not be considered.
