About This Role

Ignite the Passion for Performance: Teacher of Music & Drama

The British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is on the lookout for a vibrant, creative, and adaptable educator to lead our Music and Drama programs. This is a remarkable opportunity to shape the artistic culture at the premier independent school in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

At BWIC, we focus on the "whole student" approach, seeking an individual who can blend the performing arts with academic learning, fostering both technical skills and creative confidence in our students from Year 7 through IGCSE.

The Role

  • Curriculum Excellence: Deliver exceptional Music and Drama education across Key Stage 3 and the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE curriculum.
  • Creative Leadership: Play an integral role in coordinating school productions, concerts, and events that highlight student talent.
  • Extra-Curricular Impact: Alongside classroom duties, you will provide a dynamic range of extra-curricular activities (including choir, school band, drama club, or technical theatre).
  • Community Engagement: Help cultivate the supportive atmosphere at BWIC by participating in school-wide events and house competitions.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Educator: Holds a recognized teaching qualification and a degree in Music, Drama, or Performing Arts.
  • Versatile Performer: Skilled in both disciplines, with strong personal abilities in at least one area (such as instrumental, vocal, or acting/directing).
  • CAIE Experience: Familiarity with the Cambridge International (IGCSE) framework is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm and adaptability are valued.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A team player eager to work alongside our Science, IT, and Humanities departments on interdisciplinary initiatives.

Why Join BWIC?

  • Exceptional Facilities: You will have access to a dedicated music room and performance spaces within a school environment that celebrates the arts.
  • Small Class Sizes: With a student body of 195, you will benefit from intimate class sizes, enabling in-depth and personalized mentorship.
  • A Lifestyle Unmatched: Live and work on "Provo," where your workday concludes with breathtaking beaches and a supportive, international faculty community.
