ROLE SUMMARY:
St. George’s International School, located in Clarens near the stunning Lake Geneva in Switzerland, is seeking a Geography and Humanities Teacher to join our Senior School. The selected candidate will report to the Head of Humanities Faculty and will be responsible for teaching Geography at the IB, A Level, and/or IGCSE levels, in addition to contributing to humanities instruction at Key Stage 3.

This position involves delivering engaging, inquiry-based lessons, facilitating student progress, and enriching the overall school experience through collaboration, pastoral care, and participation in extracurricular activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach Geography at IB, A Level, and/or IGCSE levels.


Deliver various humanities subjects at KS3, including geography, history, and global perspectives.


Create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote excellent learning outcomes.


Prepare students for IBDP assessments, which include Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs).


Follow faculty assessment guidelines and engage in student evaluation and feedback processes.


Attend parent-teacher meetings and school events as required.


Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development within the Humanities department.


Provide class coverage when necessary.


Act as a positive role model for students and uphold school standards.


Participate in the school community through tutoring, pastoral care, and extracurricular activities, including leading a club.


Flourish in an international and multicultural environment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Proven experience teaching Geography at IB, A Level, and IGCSE levels.


A degree in Geography or a related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification.


A thorough understanding of IBDP assessment methods, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs), as well as A Level evaluation criteria.


The ability to teach various humanities subjects (e.g., geography, history, global perspectives); experience with Theory of Knowledge (ToK) is advantageous.


Experience managing fieldwork activities safely.


Strong classroom management skills, with a knack for setting clear expectations and supporting student growth.


Excellent planning, assessment, and feedback capabilities, along with proficiency in using ICT for teaching.


A commitment to student welfare, safeguarding, and continuous professional development.


Experience teaching Senior School students (ages 11–18) in an international setting.


C2-level English proficiency (or equivalent native level).

Compensation
