Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet all qualifications; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Teaching experience in bilingual or ESL environments
- Background in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
- Proven capability in creating a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Background in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience engaging with students outside the classroom setting, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and supporting students
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a school team
- Involvement in shared, community-centered environments

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kugaaruk, NU: $26,639
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Candidates from outside Nunavut must present a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications that do not include this documentation will not be considered.
